Lots of exploration going on in the retail space these days! And much of it is driected at creating a more compelling experience for a specific target audience. It will be interesting to see how this concept pans out.
Best Buy Co. Inc. plans to launch a new health and wellness store aimed at mature women, stepping outside its traditional electronics market to capture customers its gadget-heavy offerings don't reach.
Called Eq Life, the new concept will be tested in the Twin Cities early next year.
Retail sources familiar with the company's plans, however, said the store will offer a variety of health and wellness products and services, including home spas, nutritional supplements, hair care services, a nail salon, exercise equipment and even prescription drugs. The store's size is estimated between 13,000 to 15,000 square feet, about the size of a Walgreens and much smaller than a typical Best Buy store.
