There's a gas station maybe 200 feet from my house, that I pass every day. Right now, they're selling gas for $2.79/gallon, which, given that it's Jersey, means that it's that price for full serve. Even in our neck of the woods, it's at least 10 cents cheaper then any other station around.
So, I went there the other day and got in line to get some gas. Pulled up to the pump, popped open my gas cap and waited. And waited. And waited. I waited while at least 4 other crs pulled in, got gas and left. And after waiting while everyone else got served, I finally just left. It stopped being about the money and started being about me and how I was being treated. And I discovered that staying there and being ignored wasn't worth 10 cents a gallon. I moved on and got my gas down the block.
Having the best prices around doesn't always matter when you ignore your customers!
David,
It's a good story about price, but I'm still shaking my head about full service. They still offer that? It's been years since I've seen one.

Actually it's funny. It seems that our legislature decided that we weren’t smart enough to know how to pump our own gas, so it’s mandatory to have it pumped for you. Apparently, they were worried that it would spill so much gas onto the ground — because we weren’t smart enough to know when to turn it off — that it would ruin our ecosystem. Amazing, eh?
