Registration is now open for PICNIC 07 in Amsterdam this September. There's a lot going on -- in fact, it covers a full week. To check out all of the speakers, make sure you visit the PICNIC Network - Speakers @ PICNIC'07. The first event - PICNIC’06 - took place in September 2006, and brought more than 5.000 people to Amsterdam.
You can also check out who's attending the conference by checking out the PICNIC Network. It's a great way to meet the other people attending PICNIC and begin your networking early!
It’s PICNIC time again. Time to feel inspired. Time to make connections. And time to play with everything that's out there. PICNIC'07 takes you outside the average, feeds you fresh innovations and lets your creative mind off the leash.
Around 60 scientists, businesspeople, authors and artists from all over the world will give talks and presentations on groundbreaking new technologies, trends, ideas and cross media. For instance, MIT’s Neil Gershenfeld (US) will lift the curtain on the coming revolution in computer-assisted home product fabrication. Susan Kish (CH), Head of Network & Community Practice of Xing talks about success factors of social networking. Dr. David Weinberger (US), co-author of The Cluetrain Manifesto and author of Small Pieces Loosely Joined, will give insight on how the Web is transforming business and the world. Saatchi&Saatchi’s Kevin Roberts and Richard Hytner (UK) will reveal the keys to winning consumers’ hearts: mystery, sensuality and intimacy. David Silverman, director of “The Simpsons” (US) will provide a behind-the-scenes look at one of the most creative an technically-driven areas of filmmaking.
Some of the highlights include:
The PICNIC’07 conference is Europe’s most dynamic event devoted to creativity and innovation in the media, technology and entertainment industries.
Designed for creatives, entrepreneurs, innovation and technology experts, media professionals, and business people, the conference programme showcases the latest innovative and creative trends relevant to the media and entertainment industries.
Around the world, commercial, academic and non-profit media labs are developing new concepts and pilot projects around new technologies. Once a year, PICNIC in collaboration with Mediagilde invites them to participate in an expert meeting and demo session. The Day of the Medialabs combines an afternoon of discussion amongst Medialabs, with a morning of presentations open to the public.
PICNIC and some of its partners offer this special workshop highlighting the Chinese creative industries, with special sessions dedicated to arts and media as well as professional networking and business opportunities. Creative China combines a PICNIC morning session about advertising, internet, architecture and design in China.
The Come Out & Play Festival will turn Amsterdam into a playground for a weekend.
Hundreds of players will gather to play different games across the city. The festival gives players and the public the chance to take part in a variety of different urban games. These new-style games turn the city into a playground. We’ll play at all sorts of locations around Amsterdam during PICNIC'07. PacManhattan and zombie tag were huge hits in New York last year (see www.comeoutandplay.org/blog/games). The games we’ll play in Amsterdam will be just as large-scale and fun.
Come rediscover the city around you through play. Why a street games festival, you ask? Fair questions. Well, we like innovative use of public space. We like games which make people interact in new ways. We like games that alter your perception of your surroundings. But most importantly, we think games are great way to have fun.
PICNIC and three special partners are hosting three evenings full of music and entertainment, on 26, 27 and 28 September, from 21.00 onwards. On Wednesday 26 September, you are invited to the Red Bul Sound Clash, on Thursday 27 September Xs4all presents ‘Viva la Creacion’ and on Friday 28 September Heineken invites you to ‘Refreshing Sounds.
Hey D! how's it going? I wish I was going to be at picnic - alas cannot make it. Send regards to my buddy Guido! Lots to catch you up on.
