Meeting Klaas from Bitmove (they make the video e-mail at the Lab) and, since he has an installation at the Heineken Experience, I got a chance to take a tour. It would seem that it's one of the top places to visit in Amsterdam as the place was packed! It's a great example of a corporate heritage center and really has fun telling the Heineken story. Yea, and you can to drink beer too! OK, it seems you can drink lots of beer!
Although I'm usually fairly bored with motion simulators, it was fun to go through the Heineken bottling process as a bottle. And the video e-mail systems had long lines of people waiting to send messages home. I did! And you got a good education into beer in general and Heineken specifically. It was cool as you went from room to room, where they explained the ingredients used in making Heineken.
And yes, you got to taste. I liked the new Heneken 0 (I think that's what it's called) and how a few just to make sure I did really like it. And what a great example of the socialization of place. It was really fun to see everyone talking to one another, working throught whatever language barriers might exist. I'll have to wait a few years before Sydney will visit, but I'll go back again the next time I'm in Amsterdam.
