I was asked by Crain's New York what NY City can do to market itself during this bad economy. My idea is below and there were several other listed in the article. How would you market NYC today?
4. Explore New York like a New Yorker."I'd like to see a campaign promoting the city's uniqueness at a time when the world is ever-more homogenized. There's nothing like the Macy's on 34th Street, even though there are hundreds of Macy's. A mix of celebrities and regular folk saying what's unique about New York to them, places like Orchard Street and Tompkins Square Park, up to Harlem and all those great ethnic neighborhoods in Brooklyn and Queens. —David Polinchock, chief experience officer, Brand Experience Lab
